Roles, Responsibilities & Compensation


The President shall,

  • Have proactive responsibility for the organization and its management, subject to GNY Chapter by-laws.

  • Provide leadership in setting direction and goals, review and approve major organizational decisions, and manage progress towards program and financial goals.

  • In conjunction with the Treasurer and the Trustees, ensure that the organization is financially sound and its business is conducted in a responsible manner.

  • Ensure the continuity of the organization through development and recruitment of volunteers.

  • In collaboration with other officers, provide for organizational transition, structure and succession planning.


The Vice President – Chapter Secretary shall,

  • Be responsible for keeping the records of the Association, including a current list of Registered Members.

  • Be responsible for information flow amongst Officers, Directors and Members of the Association, including, financial statements, reporting on programs and operations, planning; and the conduct of meetings: agendas, minutes, and other such documentation.

  • Be responsible, in collaboration with the Treasurer and Trustees, for the timely filing of statutory financial reports as required by the Internal Revenue Service, the State of New Jersey, etc.


The Treasurer shall,

  • Be entrusted with the funds of the Association and be the primary, but not sole, authority to collect and disburse them, with responsibility to the GNY Advisory Council.

  • Manage the finances of the Association, and exercise controls on the disposition of the Association’s funds; including but not limited to record-keeping, maintenance of the Association’s Bank accounts, reconciling of Bank statements; funds disbursements; collection of monies due (receivables, donation pledges, promissory notes, refunds, etc.); financial reporting, tax-related filings.

  • Be responsible, in conjunction with the Vice-President and Trustees, for the timely filing of statutory reports as required by the Internal Revenue Service, the State of New Jersey, and so on.

  • Be responsible, in collaboration with the other Officers, to ensure the timely reporting to the General Body of the conduct and the state of the finances of the Association, no less than once each calendar year.


Each of The Two Trustees shall,

  • Provide oversight in setting policy, direction and goals,  major organizational decisions, and progress towards program and financial goals.

  • Be responsible, in collaboration with the President and the Vice President, for the timely filing of statutory reports as required by the Internal Revenue Service, the New Jersey Department of State, the New Jersey Treasury, and so on.

  • Be responsible, along with the other Officers, for the timely reporting to the General Body of the conduct of the business, the state of affairs, and the state of the finances of the Association, no less than once each calendar year.

* The GNY Advisory Council is composed of current Officers, whose membership in the Council is de facto, and typically, ex-Officers of the Association plus other interested alumni, by invitation; Council members are also referred to as Directors of IITBAA-GNY


Compensation 

Officers, Directors and Election Managers of IITBAA-GNY are alumni who generously volunteer their time and energy, and do not receive any monetary compensation other than reasonable out-of-pocket expense reimbursement. To-date, professional services provided by alumni and their firms have likewise been pro bono; however, nothing contained in the by-laws of IITBAA-GNY precludes alumni from serving the Association in any particular professional capacity and receiving compensation thereof.
