IITBAA Election Rules

Nominations

  1. The individual being nominated (the "Nominee") must be an IITBAA Life Member.
  2. An individual must be nominated and seconded by two IITBAA Life Member other than the Nominee him/herself.
  3. The Nominee must confirm that(s)he accepts the nomination to the designated post, is willing to contest an election and to serve for the entire 3 year term if elected; such an acceptance letter must be received by email by the Election Officer, no later than the end of day on on August 8, 2007.
  4. The nominee shall also agree to email a brief write-up about him/herself (few lines) along with a valid iitbombay email alias to be used for the election process before August 8, 2007.
  5. The two nominations (as per rule 2 above), and the confirmation (as per rule 3 above) from valid IIT Bombay Alumni can be sent by the e-Mail form from the IITBHF-IITBAA website.

  6. Nominations can also be sent by using/printing the Proforma nomination paper as shown here click here to see the proforma.

Note: An individual MUST be registered at the IITBombay.org Alumni database prior to nominating anyone or before being nominated.



Election

  1. Voting will be carried out by electronic ballot over the Internet.
  2. Polls will be open upon receipt of individualized Election Vote Solicitation email by the returning officer.
  3. Polls will open on 14th August, 2008 at 11:00 hrs IST.
  4. Polls will close on 20th August, 2008 at 11:00 hrs IST. 
  5. Votes can also be sent by post using postal ballot form. Form is given in the IITBAA Annual report 2007-08. ballot paper to reach Alumni Centre by 20th August 2008.
  6. Voting will be carried out by an Anonymous Ballot. Only the Election Officer, or an Alumnus auditor may know the identity of the electorate.
  7. Each IITBAA Life Member Alumnus can vote only once.
  8. In the event there is a tie in the election, the last valid vote(s) for the contested post(s) will be not counted and the tie will be resolved to declare the winner.
